Couple reviewing insurance options together
Our approach

Insurance should answer a question — not create one

Too often, insurance gets sold as a one-size-fits-all answer to a vaguely defined problem. We take the opposite approach: figure out what you're actually trying to protect against, then look at whether insurance is the right tool — and if so, which kind.

Start with the problem, not the product

What are you trying to protect? Income, family, retirement, a business? The need drives the recommendation — not the other way around.

Right-sized, not over-sold

Too much coverage wastes premium dollars. Too little leaves you exposed. We focus on the actual gap — and only fill it.

Coordinated with everything else

A policy that ignores your retirement plan, tax situation, or estate goals creates problems instead of solving them. We coordinate across the whole picture.

Reviewed, not forgotten

Life changes. Coverage that made sense ten years ago may be wrong today. We review existing policies as part of the planning process.

Coverage solutions

The kinds of insurance we help clients think through

We don't push any one product. The right answer depends on your situation, your goals, and what's already in place. Below are the main areas where insurance often plays a role in a complete financial plan.

Life insurance protecting a family
01

Life Insurance

Income replacement for the people who depend on you, liquidity for estate planning, or business succession. Term, whole life, and universal life all serve different purposes — and we'll explain what fits and why.

Disability income protection
02

Disability Income Insurance

Your ability to earn an income is often your most valuable financial asset. Disability coverage protects that income if illness or injury keeps you from working.

Long-term care planning
03

Long-Term Care

Healthcare costs in retirement — particularly extended care — can quietly consume a financial plan. We help evaluate whether traditional LTC, hybrid policies, or self-insuring makes sense.

Annuities and retirement income
04

Annuities

When used appropriately, annuities can provide guaranteed income, principal protection, or tax-deferred growth. When used inappropriately, they can do the opposite. We help you tell the difference.

Reviewing existing policies
05

Policy Reviews

Already have coverage? We'll review what you own, explain it in plain English, and tell you whether it still fits — or whether it's working against you.

Business insurance and key person coverage
06

Business Coverage

Key person insurance, buy-sell funding, executive benefits, and business continuity planning. Coverage that protects the business and the people who built it.

Honest answers

Questions people often ask about insurance

"Do I really need life insurance?"

Depends entirely on who depends on your income or what you're trying to leave behind. If no one is financially dependent on you and you have no estate or business succession needs, possibly not. If someone is — or those needs exist — almost certainly yes. The honest answer is: it depends, and we'll help you figure it out.

"Term or permanent life insurance — which is better?"

Neither is universally better. Term is simpler and cheaper for temporary needs (replacing income during working years, covering a mortgage). Permanent makes sense for permanent needs (estate liquidity, lifelong dependents, certain business uses). Most people are better served by term — but not everyone. The question is what you're trying to accomplish.

"Annuities have a bad reputation. Should I avoid them?"

Some annuities deserve their reputation — high fees, complex riders, surrender penalties that can trap your money for years. Others can be useful tools for specific problems. The product is not inherently good or bad; how it's used and recommended is. We'll explain the trade-offs honestly so you can decide.

"My employer covers life and disability. Isn't that enough?"

Sometimes, sometimes not. Group coverage is usually limited (often 1–2x salary for life, 60% of income for disability), often doesn't follow you if you change jobs, and may not cover your full needs. Worth a review to see whether you have actual gaps — and what filling them would cost.

"How much does long-term care actually cost?"

In Florida, extended in-home care or skilled nursing care can run $60,000–$120,000+ per year, depending on level of care and location. For couples needing extended care, those costs can erode a retirement plan quickly. Planning ahead — whether through insurance, dedicated savings, or a combination — is easier than reacting.
